Small quite detailed study in Florentine style of Saintly figures standing before Naked woman on a crucifix. Based on painting in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The Madonna and Child with Six Saints, painted about 1455. 10¼ x 9⅜ ins by PESELLINO 1422–57 approx.
Belonged to a large class of painters who aimed frankly at nothing beyond the ornamental and the agreeable – craftsmen who decorated marriage chests with charming depictions of antique lovers and battles, and modern romances.
